Trebbiano is a white grape variety that has a very ancient history in Italy, with its cultivation dating back to before the year 1000.
Indeed, its particularities have allowed Trebbiano to spread throughout the territory: as we know, in fact, the vine is normally a plant that is particularly sensitive to weather conditions, tolerating neither too low nor too high temperatures.
Trebbiano has shown great adaptability to different types of soil and climatic conditions, which, together with its great productivity, has resulted in the vine finding the ideal characteristics for its cultivation in different parts of Italy.
The grape variety is widely used in blends with other grapes, thanks to its neutral notes that do not alter the characteristics of other wines.
As for its use in purity, there are currently no less than 7 DOCs: Trebbiano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano di Romagna,Trebbiano di Aprilia, Trebbiano di Arborea, Trebbiano di Capriano del Colle, Trebbiano Spoletino e il Colli Piacentini Trebbianino Val Trebbia.
Thus, the Trebbia Valley and the Colli Piacentini area in general are one of the areas where the vine has spread and found an environment capable of enhancing its characteristics.
The Trebbianino Val Trebbia represents the symbolic wine of the valley, whose certification was strongly desired and obtained in 1975 by Anacleto Bonelli, the founder of our wine cellars.
The wine fully identifies the values of the territory and still expresses our winery's deep bond with the Trebbia Valley.
